There are times when cheating is not as bad as it sounds, especially when it's your day off and after a long and very tiring week, you just want to lay down and enjoy a warm plate of yummy, gooey snack. Take, for example, the grilled cheese sandwich. Mine's not really grilled, nor is it made of authentic cheddar cheese, so there goes the cheating part. But the best part about cooking and being a pseudo-chef is that you can make the recipes your own. Add a twist, don't follow it to a T, and instead change it so it turns out to be how you want it to be. Same principle applies in life, I guess. :)
There's nothing complicated about grilled cheese. In fact, I bet you know how to make this snack anyway. And since I pretty much want to laze around all day and watch TV, I'm cutting this post early and giving you the recipe for a spicy, juicy, and gooey grilled cheese sandwich, perfect for any time of the day.
Quick and Easy Grilled Cheese Sandwich
- bread slices (could be whole wheat, plain, or even flavored!)
- grated Quickmelt cheese (or any quick-melting cheese of your choice)
- thinly sliced tomatoes
- cayenne pepper
- dried basil leaves
Simply brush each slice of bread with butter, top with lots of grated cheese. Add in tomatoes, and sprinkle with cayenne pepper, basil, or any herbs and spices of your choice.
Fire up your grill, or in my case, a non-stick skillet, and toast the bread until the cheese melts and until you achieve your preferred level of crisp or burnt on your bread. Devour while still warm and gooey! :)
